Eheim Filters

Has anyone had success in treating ich with only heat at 86 degrees?

Hi there,
been live cycling 100 gal planted tank with external eheim filter for about 2 months now. This will eventually be a Discus tank. I have schools of scissor tails and rummy nose tetras, 5 corydoras, 3 small loaches and 5 siamese algae eaters. Over the last couple days I noticed one of my Rummy nose had a couple of points... ich! The others are still fine, except for one of the loaches who has been scratching in the gravel. I had to look really closely but he has them. I have always had my tank at 28 celcius, but have it now at 86 degrees F. I had ich in my 14 gal before and the meds never did work, only two of my fish made it through. Before I get discus, I have now learned my lesson and will quarantie for at least 2 weeks before I introduce them. Right now things look good in my tank but with my experience I know they will get worse! Has anyone here had success with simply raising the temps, no salt or meds, and will the high temps bother my other fish at all? Thanks

recommend a good turtle filter?

I have a 2 1/2 inch RES in a 30 gallon tank with about 3-4 gallons of water (ill post a vid) living with some feeder fish.... i have tried the decorative filter from tetrafonda and it failed miserably. T~T I need someone to recommend a good filter like i know it has to have 3 way filtration and carbon media but im having trouble finding one worth the price ( im pretty poor) but if it works im willing to pay good money. I was thinking one of these filters:
EHEIM Ecco External Canister Filters

http://www.petco.com/Shop/Product.aspx?sku=485543

I like this one and its cheaper but is it any good??
Marineland Magnum 350 Dual Purpose Canister Filter

http://www.petco.com/Shop/Product.aspx?sku=157180

I really love this one i think it is perfect but the price literally scares me o.0

so im sorry i ask stupid questions at times but this is my pet i want the best for it.

Could someone explain to me reverse osmosis?

Hi there,
Could someone explain this in "simple" terms? I've read about it and am not coming too far. I'm preparing my tank for discus but wonder if I should move to another kind of cichlid instead that doesn't require such delicate conditions. I'm worried that I will kill my fish with any water changes. My Tap PH is somewhere around 7.6 or a bit higher. With the use of pete it's now between 6.4 and 6.8. My trusted fish store "who hasn't steared me wrong yet" has told me not to worry too much as his discus are used to a harder water, but still I worry about it fluctuating too much and killing them. I think I'm too inexperienced to do it on my own, even now with research and annoying everyone with my questions. Is my external Eheim biological filter already doing the R.O.? If I did chose to stock with a different kind of cichlid, which should I choose so I don't have to worry too much about PH? Thanks again.

Eheim Canister Filter set-up?

Hi, I have a Eheim Pro II canister filter, and I have three types of pads. One is white, one is blue, and one is the black carbon pad. I was told to put the white one on top and the instructions say put the blue one on bottom, but where the heck do I put the black one?!

Anyone know?

Whats wrong with my filter?

I bought a 190 gallon aquarium today for my terrapin, and when i set up one of the filter/heaters it made a loud rattling noise. I bought it today second hand and its been rattling ever since.

Its a Eheim External Filter Professionel II Special Edition and I dont even know if this is suitable for a terrapin. Also, the heater doesnt seem to work on it, and i'm not even sure if this heater is powerful enough on its own because the tank came with two, but one broke on the journey home! Please please please help me, my terrapin and I would be very grateful.
Ah, okay, I didn't realise with some filters you may need to put water in them. So... New question... Does anyone out there have one of these filters? I've been looking everywhere for an instruction manual for one but I can't find one! It's doing my head in!

Eheim wet dry filter 2327

My Eheim Wet/Dry Filter leaking .. help..

how many gallons can this a Eheim 2013 Canister filter handle?

i need to now how many gallons can this fish tank fillter handle and if its a good filter for

external filters and how they work part 2?

in part 1 i've asked why my filter doesn't really suck things. and why fish crap keep swimming around my tank.

well, fish crap doesn't really keep swimming if i remove internal filter. i run both filters together "to see" how good is this (eheim 2213) when it comes to mechanical filtering, which is what i want. (internal one was throwing fish crap directly to the sucker end of the and it wasn't able to suck it unless directly hits one of the slits)

the thing i don't like here is this: when i was having only an internal filter it was catching a lot of solid debris. now, running only external one, things stay just where they have been shat... no any mechanical filtering at all.

now, running a powerful internal filter means you will make solid debris swim around your tank, right? and running only an external one like i have will clean smaller stuff while leaving big crap for u 2 clean. which is better if u do that every week?

did i get this straight?
