I have an external Eheim filter that always has been running smoothly and silently, until a few days ago. I switched it off and a few hours later got it back on. The sound it makes changed, their are blurbs and it's definitely louder
Does anyone else experienced this problem? How did you solve it and any ideas what caused it?

It greatly depends on what sounds like. You say you noticed a “slurping” which seems to indicate the filter is sucking in air. With an external aquarium filter it can happen. Check to see if your intake is still submerged. It can also happen that they draw a bit of air in around the impeller. This can be noisy but it will quiet down in the long run as the air dissipates from the filter. Then there’s the possibility that something misaligned when you restarted. If this is the case you won’t hear a blurping or slurping but a clattering sound. Try restarting the filter a couple of times. Usually this will take care of the problem
