Eheim Sludge Extractor – Do I need to Take out Water?

I've been using a manual pump siphon for three years. I'm currently suffering from a back injury which doesn't allow me to lift buckets anymore... so I've been looking for alternative solutions to clean the tank effectively without buckets. I've looked into the Python, and Aqueon siphons connected to faucet, however I also saw Eheim's Sludge Extractor which works like a battery operated vacuum. If one cleans the glunk from the gravel and adds fresh water, and uses a good , is it necessary to still take out water for cleaning?

Thanks in advance.

Experienced fishkeepers: Rena filstar XP2 inlet question, 55 gallon?

Hi, this question is for those with experience of Rena canister filters. I've had a new Rena Aqualife tank in cycling for a week now and its well planted and seeded with a little fish waste and fish food in the hope to speed up cycle.
I'm happy with the Rena filstar, the outflow is great and it's very quiet. My question is is it normal that the inlet does not seem to suck up much? Bits of plant and food and waste I added when seeding have just gone moldy or grown fungus or something and are not seeming to get sucked up much, they just float by it if I stir them up. My old small rena tank with a biobox would suck up everything in its path in comparison-Am I supposed to be vacuuming all debris as the filter doesn't handle it? Shouldn't the filter be sucking it up? I've lowered the inlet siphon down lower than than the 4 inch above gravel recommended (is this ok?) and it seems to work a little better now.
Thanks in advance for any help

What Protein skimmer would you recommend for a 75 gallon fish only saltwater aquarium tank ?

I have rena filstar xp3 filter, 3 damsels, 2 clowns and 2 hermit crabs. Looking for something quiet, under 0, hang on the back kind , and I have 3.5 inches from tank to back of the wall.

Thanks in advance!!!
