What is the maintenance schedule for an Eheim 2213 canister filter?
I have this filter for months and everyone has a different answer. How often must I change filter media? What do I replace? How do I clean without removing too much bacteria?

you need to clean it once a month as the filter sponges and stones are in a plastic unit ,inside the pump you take all of it out and take the sponges out and rinse in tank water never fresh water ,you rinse the stones inside and then fill it up with tank water,
the best time to clean this is when you are doing a water change and you can put the tank water back into the filter,
never fill with fresh tap water as that destroys the beneficial bacteria already in the filter,
