Where do I place my canister filter?
im planning on getting rena xp4 canister filter and i was wondering where do i put it? Can i put it next to the tank because thats the only place i can put it. I heard that the only place you can put it is under the tank but my tank doesnt have a stand or a bottom. its on a solid brick stand. I have a 180 acrylic tank. Please help me. Thank you.
will it be ok if i put it on the side of the tank at the same level too?
Your canister filter will be just fine set next to the tank. The suggestion to put it under a tank stand is just so that it’s hidden from view. Most fish keepers like to keep the clutter hidden under the stand.
The only thing you really need to make sure of if it’s next to the stand is usually the length of the hosing. There is a maximum/minimum of length you can use that should be in the directions. If the distance is too close, the canister may have issues being gravity fed, and if it’s too far, the pump may have issues returning the water.
